Life Story for Luther H. "Boots" Jourdan

LUTHER H. “BOOTS” JOURDAN, age 76 years of Whiteford, MD died on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. He was the husband of Janet L. (Eaton) Jourdan with whom he had shared nearly 54 years of marriage.

Born on October 19, 1936 in Long Green, MD, he was a son of the late Luther Irvin and Aneita Mae (Engler) Jourdan. A 1954 graduate of North Harford High School in Pylesville, MD, Mr. Jourdan had worked as a truck driver for the Grier Oil Company in Aberdeen from 1956 until 1985, taking time away to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 –62. In 1985, he was employed with the Williams Company, formerly known as Transco Pipeline Co. until retirement in 2001.

“Boots” was a longtime member of Emory United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir, the Emory Men’s Choir, played the harmonica and was very active in church activities. He enjoyed being outdoors, vacationing at the beach, cooking and music especially gospel and bluegrass. He was known to have a great sense of humor.

Susan Dolinger of Mouth of Wilson, VA

Two brothers-
James Jourdan of Darlington, MD
Lawrence Jourdan of Dublin, MD

Eleven grandchildren-Crystal, Candace, Chad, Ashley, Lauren, Justin, Joshua, Tyler, Carley, Jacob and Sara.

Six great grandchildren

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, the 10th at 11 a.m. at Emory United Methodist Church, 911 Cherry Hill Road, Street, MD with his minister, Pastor Brian Shockey officiating. There will be no interment services.
