Life Story for Helen Tarbert Sliver

HELEN TARBERT SLIVER, age 93 years of Aberdeen, MD, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Hart Heritage Assisted Living in Street, MD. She was the wife of H. Edward Sliver with whom she had shared 46 happy years of marriage at the time of his death in 1985.

Born in Coulsontown, PA on April 30, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Ellen (Grimes) Tarbert. Helen was employed at the former Glenn L. Martin during WWII where she worked as a “Rosie the Riveter.” After the war, she was employed at Edgewood Arsenal and retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Helen enjoyed bowling, needlework, puzzles and was known to give a helping hand to numerous nieces and nephews. She enjoyed transporting the elderly when they could no longer drive themselves. Helen was an active member of Churchville Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her nieces, nephews and their families, she is survived by a sister-in-law, Jean Jones.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-William, Robert, Roscoe, Irene, Oscar, Irvan, Orpha, Eugene, Wilson, Marshall, Audrey and their spouses.

Friends may call on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, the 5th at 11 a.m. at Churchville Presbyterian Church, 2844 Churchville Road, Churchville, MD 21028 with interment in the adjoining church cemetery.

Pastor Ronald Martin-Minnich, interim minister will officiate.
