Life Story for Ella I. Bauer

Ella I.  Bauer
ELLA I. BAUER, age 79 years of Street, MD, died on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. She was the wife of David Bauer who died on July 8, 1994.

Born on July 24, 1934 in Sullivan County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Otis Denton and Pauline (Hurst) Arnold and a graduate of Ohio State University. Mrs. Bauer had moved to Ohio in the early 1950’s where she met David Bauer who would become her husband. Mrs. Bauer began her career working in the office of Clerk of Courts of Franklin County, Ohio. After years of service, she was appointed Financial Director of Children’s Services, from which she retired in the 1980’s.

In retirement, Mrs. Bauer volunteered at the county library and handled the financial affairs for her parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Grove City, Ohio. She was a very active member of the parish, helping others on their spiritual journey, worked in outreach programs for the poor and with continuing Catholic education. Mrs. Bauer received the honor of “Catholic Woman of the Year” on two occasions.

Mrs. Bauer was a lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliaries in Baltimore, Ohio. She was known to be a generous person, supporting and emphasizing the importance of a good education.

She is survived by:
Two sisters-
Eula McCoy of Perryville, MD
Verla L. Felts of Whiteford,MD

Loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, C. Marie Robinson and a brother, Denver Arnold.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Services in Grove City, Ohio will be held on Friday, April 4th at Schoedinger Funeral Services, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, with visitation from 12 - 1 p.m. followed immediately with the funeral service.

Interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 1850 York Rd., Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
