Life Story for Jean E. Beck

Jean E.  Beck
JEAN E. BECK, age 81 years of Dallastown, Pennsylvania, died on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 3:49 a.m. at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, Maryland. She was the wife of Pastor Allen Jack Beck who died on July 3, 2007.

Born on September 28, 1932 in Hyndman, Pennsylvania she was a daughter of the late Charles Wesley
and Alma Lucy (Miller) Evans. Mrs. Beck was a graduate of the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, Illinois and managed a Christian book store in Cumberland, Maryland before marrying her late husband- a widower with nine children. She quickly became a loving mother and a devoted minister’s wife. In 1970, the family moved to Jarrettsville, Maryland where her late husband accepted the position of pastor of North Harford Baptist Church. Mrs. Beck was very instrumental in the music program of the church, playing the piano and directing the adult choir. Her service at the church also included teaching Sunday School, Bible School and leading Ladies Bible Study. Mrs. Beck was known to always be at her husband’s side assisting in his ministry.

In 1989, she and her late husband moved to Dallastown, Pennsylvania where they continued their long time ministry with the Red Lion Bible Church followed by service with North Hills Bible Church of York, Pennsylvania. The daughter of a pastor with a quiet nature, Mrs. Beck dedicated her entire life to sharing and serving her faith in Jesus Christ, her Savior.

Suzanne B. Getz of Erie, Pennsylvania
Elizabeth B. Mentzer, and her husband, Eric of Riverside, Maryland
Christine B. McAllister, and her husband, Ken of Bear, Delaware
Miriam B. Dimitriadis and her husband, Lloyd Shires of Bel Air, Maryland
J. Nathan Beck, and his wife, Christine of White Hall, Maryland
Joseph Beck, and his wife, Tamara of Catonsville, Maryland
Ruth A. Edwards and her husband, Mark of Delta, Pennsylvania
Sara L. Schroers, and her husband, Bryan of Hampstead, Maryland
Bryan E. Beck of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Charis J. Cooney of Bel Air, Maryland
Carol A. Cooney and her husband, Rick of Odessa, Florida

She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Four siblings-
Doris Evans, Shirley Evans and Vincent Evans, all of Hyndman, Pennsylvania and Donald Evans of Sumter, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn DeAra on December 19, 1993, and sister, Betty Ruth Evans; three brothers-Dwight Evans, Charles Evans and Luman Evans.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at North Harford Baptist Church, 4008 Old Federal Hill Road, Jarrettsville, Maryland with Reverend John W. Manry, church pastor, officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Interment will be on Thursday, April 17th at noon in Sunset Memorial Park, 13800 Bedford Road NE, Cumberland, Maryland with Reverend Ken Korns officiating.
