Obituary for Lorraine H. Hlaston

Lorraine H.  Hlaston
LORRAINE H. HLASTON, age 94 years , of Delta, PA and formerly of Dundalk and Greensboro, MD died at 10:16 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD.

Mrs. Hlaston was born in Grassy Creek, NC on May 25, 1920, a daughter of the late Walter and Sarah Helen (May) Hash. She spent most of her life in the Dundalk area. Following her retirement, she moved to her daughter’s home in Greensboro where she belonged to the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. From 2007 until her death, she had alternated living with her other daughter’s in Delta, PA. Mrs. Hlaston was an original “Rosie the Riveter,” working at the Glenn L. Martin Company in Middle River during World War II. For thirty years prior to her retirement in 1990 she worked as a store manager for High’s Stores of Baltimore, LLC. A very active lady, Mrs. Hlaston enjoyed flowers, gardening and helping her daughter’s around the home.

She is survived by

Four children Denny M. Hlaston of Baltimore, MD
Cheryl L. Haapala of Greensboro, MD
Sandra R. Kagle and her husband, George of Delta, PA
Anita M. Sokal and her husband, Bill of Delta, PA

Two grandchildren Karen Bennett and T.A. Haapala

One great grandson Cody Bennett, all of Preston, MD

One sister Jean Streett of Street, MD

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4 at 11 a.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.

Visitations will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday the 3rd. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, MD.
