BENNIE A. DILLARD, age 76 years of Darlington, MD, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. He was the husband of Glenda (Viers) Dillard with whom he had shared 51 years of marriage.

Born on April 5, 1938 in Glendale Springs, N.C., he was a son of the late Robert and Effie (Miller) Dillard and had lived in Maryland for the past 62 years. Mr. Bennie had worked for C.D. Miller Saw Mill for 36 years. A member of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, he had served as a deacon and as the church “handy man” caring for anything that needed attention. Mr. Dillard was a member of the Whiteford Motorcycle Club, a NASCAR fan and in his own fashion, was an “American Picker” buying and selling rustic gold items and antiques.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
A daughter, Denise L. Herilla and her husband, Bob of Peach Bottom, PA

A grandchild, Jess Herilla of Peach Bottom, PA

Also survived by loving nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by a brother, Rob Dillard and a sister, Lena Dillard.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, 3135 Dublin Road, Street, MD followed immediately with a funeral service. Officiating will be his pastor, Reverend Tracy J. Duvall.

A second visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6th from 10 to 11 a.m. at Liberty Regular Baptist Church, 4540 Silas Creek Road, Lansing, NC, followed immediately with a funeral service. Officiating will be Reverend Tracy J. Duvall and church minister, Pastor Russel Sheets.

Interment will be in Peak Creek Cemetery, Laurel Springs. NC.
