Life Story for Sarah Isabelle Carr Wilmoth

Sarah Isabelle Carr Wilmoth
SARAH ISABELLE CARR WILMOTH, age 90 years, died in her Street, MD home on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Garvey Richard Wilmoth, Sr., and at the time of his death in 2009, they had shared 67 years of marriage.

Born on April 26, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Purlee Wilson and Sadie Elizabeth Burkins Carr. A victim of polio at the age of 12, she spent 2 years at Children’s Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She was challenged to learn to walk three times in her life: at the ages of toddler and teenager. After a fall later in life, she once again learned the ability to walk. Mrs. Wilmoth was a graduate of the former Dublin High School and had worked at the former Broad Creek Soapstone Quarry in the Dublin area of Street, MD and for the former Bata Shoe Company in Belcamp, MD. A clerk, she retired from the Harford County Public Schools Film Library Processing Center, having served at the Havre de Grace and Forest Hill locations.

Mrs. Wilmoth was a life-long member of the Church of the Ascension in the Deer Creek Parish where she had served as Altar Guild member, Ladies Guild member, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and choir member. She loved her African violets and was known by many for her skills in keeping them thriving and beautiful. She loved to sing and in addition to her devotion to the church choir, she hosted family sing-a-longs. She clipped newspapers and magazines, sharing the meaningful sayings and funny jokes with her family and friends for many years.

A true lady, Mrs. Wilmoth enjoyed visiting with friends and was known to host tea parties for her church friends with the support from her loving granddaughters. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her many family members. She always put others before herself.

She is survived by:
Three sons-
G. Richard Wilmoth Jr., and his wife, Kornetha
Robert W. Wilmoth and his wife, Marcia
William W. Wilmoth and his wife, Mary

Eight grandchildren- Rich, Laurie, Ken, Heather, Jerod, Ashley, Amanda and Nathan.

Eleven great grandchildren-Travis, Taylor, Ashleigh, Aaron, Liam, Daroch, Ryan, Grayson, Jacob, Liz and Madison.
