Life Story for Margaret D. "Mongie" Fantom

MARGARET D. “MONGIE” FANTOM, age 96 years of Red Lion, formerly of Delta, PA, died on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Rest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in York, PA. She was the wife of Malford Fantom who died in 1969.

Born on July 6, 1918 in Delta, PA, she was a daughter of the late Lansing and Margaret (Thomas) Miller. Mrs. Fantom was a lifelong resident of Delta as well as a longtime member of Slateville Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deacon. A teacher's assistant, she worked with public school kindergarteners in the Slateville and Center Church locations, and had worked ten years as a cafeteria worker for South Easternern Schools. Mrs. Fantom made beautiful scrapbooks, loved caring for her grandchildren and was known for her wonderful cooking talents, homemade rolls and bread.

She is survived by:
Three children-
Donald G. Fantom and his wife, Patty of Delta, PA
Cindy A. Daugherty and her husband, Ken of Red Lion, PA
Kenneth J. Fantom of York, PA

Seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Gregory K. Fantom on April 22, 2001.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed immediately with the funeral service at Slateville Presbyterian Church, 308 Slateville Road, Delta, PA.

Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Reverend James B. Shuler of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church will officiate.
