Life Story for William E. Grove, Sr.

William E.  Grove, Sr.
WILLIAM E. GROVE, SR., also known as “Handlebars” of Fawn Grove, PA, died on Monday, October 13, 2014 at York Hospital. Married on July 29, 1961, he was the husband of F. Virginia “Ginger” (Burns) Grove, and they had shared 53 years of marriage.

Born on July 10, 1933 in York, PA, he was 81 years old and a son of the late Edward B. and Rachel (Orr) Grove and graduated from the former Delta High School in 1951. Working as a maintenance welder, Mr. Grove retired in 1998 with over 25 years of service from York International that was formerly known as Borg-Warner and currently as Johnson Controls. He was a member and past master of Friendship Lodge #663 F&AM of Fawn Grove and a longtime member of Fawn U.M. Church. In addition, he was a member of the Isaac Walton League and the Hopewell Fish and Game Association. Mr. Grove enjoyed outdoor activities, playing softball in Fawn Grove, hunting and fishing. He bowled and golfed in leagues with his fellow employees when the company was known as Borg Warner.

Wendy Greene and her husband, Richard of Jarrettsville, MD
Kenneth E. Grove of Felton, PA

A brother, Robert E. Grove of Red Lion

Four grandchildren-Jared and Jacob Grove; Alicia and Richie Greene.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA followed immediately with the funeral service at 2 p.m.

His pastor, Reverend David W. Stough will officiate with interment in Fawn Grove Cemetery.
