Life Story for Herbert H. Hurst

Herbert H.  Hurst
HERBERT H. HURST, age 86 of Darlington, MD, died in his home on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. He was the husband of Irene E. Hurst and at the time of her death in November 2005, they had shared 52 years of marriage.

A son of the late Clarence William and Anna Marie (Eierhert) Hurst, Mr. Hurst was born on July 10, 1928 in Baltimore. MD. Originally from Baltimore, he had lived in Darlington for 55 years and served in the United States Army from February 1946 to August 1947. Retiring in 1990 as a plant supervisor, Mr. Hurst had worked over 30 years for the Maryland Water Company located in Bel Air, MD. He enjoyed fishing, working with wood and was a fan of the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles as well as the Washington Nationals baseball teams.

Mr. Hurst was a member of Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church and of the Kiwanis International Foundation, an organization whose mission is to serve the children of the world. He was known to cherish the times spent with his family.

He is survived by:
Two children-
Sherrie Sauers and her husband, Sam of Street, MD
Lawrence Hurst of Florida

A sister, Barbara Smith of Pasadena, MD

Three grandchildren-Nicholas Sauers, Jason Hurst and Shane Hurst

Numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Monday the 17th from Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church, 1707 E. Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21015 beginning at 11 a.m. Elder Steve Bloyd will officiate.

Interment will be next to his wife in Darlington Cemetery, Darlington, MD.

In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions to his church at the above address.
