Life Story for Joe E. Harrington

Joe E.  Harrington
JOE E. HARRINGTON, 79 of Delta, PA, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at York Hospital after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. He was the husband of the late Elaine J. Harrington and the late Mary Ellen Harrington.

Born on February 17, 1935 in Groseclose, Smyth County, VA, he was the son of the late Scott E. and Margaret (Hankla) Harrington. After attending school, Joe became a first class machinist, having worked at the former Glenn L. Martin, for the late Hyde Dooley and as a ship fitter/welder at Wiley’s Shipyard in Port Deposit, MD. After years of dairy farming followed by work as a carpenter, he retired from the former Zell Brothers of Red Lion. In the later years of his life, he was a zoning officer for Lower Chanceford Township. Joe was a member of Mt. Nebo U.M.C. in Delta, Friendship Lodge #663 F. & A.M. of Fawn Grove, PA and a lifetime member of the PA Nite Hunters.

Joe enjoyed pleasure hunting, competition hunting with his Treeing Walkers as well as all the acquaintances and friends that he met in the sport.

JoAnn Atkins and her husband, Howard of Delta, PA
David Harrington and his wife, Robin of Delta, PA

Two brothers-
Milburn Harrington of Brick, NJ
Roger Harrington and his wife, Barbara of Brogue, PA

A sister-in-law, Rosie Harrington of Cardiff, MD

Four grandchildren and five great grandchildren

Five stepchildren-

Carol Herr and her husband, George of Quarryville, PA
Kathryn Person of Harrisburg, PA

Logan Hankinson and his wife, Cindy of York, PA

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Harrington.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Mt. Nebo U.M. C., 962 Flintville Road, Delta, PA 17314.

His minister, Pastor Beth R. Holz of the Peach Bottom Charge along with Pastor James B. Baldwin of Woodbine Assembly of Believers, will co-officiate.

In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions to the above address.
