Obituary for Donald Lewis Myers

DONALD LEWIS MYERS, age 80 of Delta, PA, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Married on April 3, 1958, he and his wife, Ruth (Rogers) Myers had shared 56 years of marriage.

A son of the late Delmar Lewis and Catherine (Snyder) Myers, he was born May 19, 1934 in Delta where he lived his entire lifetime. Mr. Myers was a member of the last class to graduate from the former Delta High School and had served five years with the U.S. Navy. A longtime supporter of the community, Mr. Myers served on the Delta Borough Town Council, was a former scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #400 and a former coach for the Delta Cardinals little league team. He was a 50 plus year member of Slateville Presbyterian Church of Delta and Friendship Lodge #663 F&AM of Fawn Grove, PA. He was a member of the Delta-Peach Bottom Fish & Game, American Legion Post #182 of Whiteford, MD and had served as commander at the John S. Murphy Post #7130, V.F.W. Mr. Myers had worked for over 32 years as a lineman and Muddy Run Park groundskeeper for the former Philadelphia Electric Company. He was the owner/operator of various businesses under the name of Red Barn Specialties. Well known in the community, Mr. Myers loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all.

Loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Isabel M. McLaughlin in 2000.
