Life Story for Betty R. Grayce

Betty R.  Grayce
BETTY R. GRAYCE, age 90 years of Fawn Grove, PA, passed away peacefully with her caregiver, Deb Smith of Peace of Mind at her side on Sunday, March 15, 2015 in York. She was the wife of A. Ray Grayce who passed away in 1974.

Born on May 18, 1924 in York, PA, she was a daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Elizabeth (Wright) Wales and a 1941 graduate of the former Lower Chanceford High School in Airville, PA. In the 1950’s, Mrs. Grayce had served as postmaster at the Bridgeton, PA post office followed by owning and operating the former Grayce’s Grocery with her late husband, also located in Bridgeton. In 1979, Mrs. Grayce retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground where she had been employed as a secretary. Mrs. Grayce loved to crochet afghans and enjoyed making beaded calendars for family and friends.

A member of Bethany Baptist Church in Airville for 20 years, she had served the church in the office of treasurer. Mrs. Grayce was very fond of her grand dog, Chouli and great grand dogs, Gage and Belle. She missed her beloved dog, Brandy who preceded her in death.

She is survived by:

Robert Grayce and his husband, Todd May of Yardley, PA
Patricia Derbeque and her husband, Al of York, PA

Two grandchildren-
Hope Stout and Holly Derbeque

A great grandchild, Chase Stout

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the funeral service will be held on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rodney Stamper of Bethany Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate memorial contributions to Hospice & Community Care, 224 Saint Charles Way, Suite 200, York, PA 17402.
