Life Story for C. David Reeves

C. David Reeves
C. DAVID REEVES, a lifelong Harford County resident known for his kindness and willingness to support others, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in his Street, MD home of complications from lung cancer. He was 69 years old.
Born on January 30, 1946 in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the youngest son of the late Claude Robert and Betty Lou (Delp) Reeves. David was the husband of Betty Lou (Hamilton) Reeves with whom he had shared 50 years of love and friendship including nearly 45 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:

Two children-
Sandi Reeves Haga and her husband, Thomas of Street, MD
Richard Hamilton and his wife, Arlene of Sugar Land, TX

A sister, Jean McGlothlin of Conowingo, MD

Six grandchildren-
Kayla, Nathan and Kylie Reeves and Kyle, Austin and Samantha Hamilton

Sister-in-law, Sharon Gray, brother-in-law, Wayne Hamilton and his wife, Betty as well as countless nieces and nephews and chosen family Debbie and Jimmy Lunney.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

David attended Bel Air High School unless the late Walt Moody’s bread truck arrived in front of his house before the school bus did – in that case, he’d spend the day working hard to make a living and support the community around him. That ultimately is what Dave was best known for – his work ethic and his willingness to support friends and family in the community. In fact, that’s how he met his then future wife Betty; he offered jumper cables when her car battery died.

Dave began working in 1966 driving a truck for his Dad. By 1972, he owned his first truck, a beautiful PINK International Harvester (which was quickly painted green). He drove for himself until 1984 when he became a valued member of Whiteford Construction where he worked until 1999. He opened A&D Septic Services in 2000 which he operated until retiring earlier this year. (Also known as “Hero Septic” after he halted a robbery at Peddler’s Run Citgo in 2008.)

His love of coffee and conversation made him a regular for years at Glen Echo Superette and then later at WaWa in Dublin where he “hosted” morning coffee with the hard working men of Harford County. Besides his love of family and friends, Dave is fondly remembered as the best used: car, tractor, scooter, four wheeler, and golf cart salesman in Harford County. (It’s rumored he sold a trailer load of snow to three Eskimos who happened down Route #1.)

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2015 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. followed immediately with the memorial service at 6:30 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.

Reverend James Johnson of the Dublin/Darlington Cooperative Ministry will officiate.
