Life Story for Richard Dean Eaton

RICHARD DEAN EATON, 82 years of Dallastown, PA, died on Tuesday September 15, 2015 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley (Heffner) Eaton who died on May 19, 2004.

Born on July 8, 1933 in the Woodbine area of Chanceford Twp., he was a son of the late Leonard C. and Laura Mae (Howard) Eaton. Mr. Eaton was a graduate of the former Lower Chanceford High School and a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1986 with 32 years of service from the former Borg-Warner Transportation in Etters, PA. Mr. Eaton was very enthusiastic about 18 wheelers and had spent most of his life behind the wheel on the open highway. Mr. Eaton had attended the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Craley, PA. After retiring, he drove a school bus for Whitcraft Bus Service in Baltimore. He loved to read, work crossword puzzles, enjoyed watching all types of sporting events and gardening.

Cody M. Smeltzer of Brogue
Alexis Mary Jo Leonard of Lititz
Chad M. Smeltzer, also of Brogue

Two great grandchildren-
Travis, Jr. (T.J.) and Thomas

A sister, Charlotte “Ducky” Baker of Brogue

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 11 to 12 noon followed immediately with the funeral service at noon at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Naval Honor Guard.

Pastor Rodney Stamper of Bethany Baptist Church will officiate. There will not be any additional public services.
