Obituary for William J. Knight

William J.  Knight
WILLIAM J. KNIGHT, 96 years of Street, MD, died on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, MD. Married on August 9, 1952 to Ruth E. (Gochenauer) Knight, they had shared 63 years of marriage.

Born on September 23, 1919 in Street, he was a son of the late George M. and Mary E. (Morris) Knight and a graduate of the former Dublin High School. Serving with the 87th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during WWII, Mr. Knight was a recipient of the Bronze Star for his bravery and service in the European Theater of Operations. A lifetime resident of Harford County, he was born on the family farm, Oak Hill, where he lived his entire lifetime. After retiring from dairy farming, he was a school bus driver and delivered Meals on Wheels every Thursday for 30 years. Mr. Knight was an avid gardener and loved growing roses. Mr. Knight was a lifetime and very active member of Dublin United Methodist Church where he had served as a trustee.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
Three children-
William J. Knight, Jr. and his wife, Joyce of Darlington, MD
Ellen E. Cullum and her husband, John of Darlington, MD
Mary E. Raab and her husband, Mark of Jarrettsville, MD

A sister, Ruth Scarborough of Bel Air, MD

Two grandchildren-
Brian J. Cullum and his wife, Susan of Wesley Chapel, FL
James J. Raab of Lanesboro, MA

A great granddaughter, Peyton E. Cullum

A memorial service will be scheduled in January 2016 with due notice provided.
