Life Story for Joseph W. Snyder

JOSEPH W. SNYDER, 78 years of Airville, PA, died on Friday, November 6, 2015 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Judy (Rosenzweig) Snyder and at the time of her death in March 2008, they had shared 51 years of marriage.

Born on July 13, 1937 in the Woodbine area of York County, he was a son of the late Lawrence R. and Josephine (Wise) Snyder. A mechanic by trade, Mr. Snyder had worked for International of York and retired from Transaxle of Lewisberry, PA. He was very active in his community where he was a longtime member of the Airville VFC, a member of the PA State Fire Police Assn., York Co. Fire Police Assn. and the Keystone State Fire Chiefs Assn.

Mr. Snyder attended the Kennard Dale Young Farmers program, was a member of the York Co. Fiddlers Assn., served as Master of Ceremonies for area bluegrass concerts and was a square dance caller. A member of Chanceford Presbyterian Church, he was a longtime member of the church choir.

Two granddaughters-
April and husband, Ronald Herbst Sr. of Seven Valleys, PA
Amanda Snyder and her companion, Todd Blevins of Delta, PA

Four great grandchildren-Sierra and Abigale Bowers; Ronald Herbst, Jr., and Adam Herbst.

A special friend, Ruth Hash of Red Lion, PA.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 10th from 10 – 11 a.m. followed immediately with the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA

Interment will be in Chanceford Cemetery, Airville, PA.
