Life Story for Merna Leah Shiflett

Merna Leah  Shiflett
MERNA LEAH SHIFLETT., 57 years of Whiteford, MD, passed away January 10, 2016 at Upper Chesapeake Hospital. She was the widow of Ronald E. Shiflett with whom she was married for 26 years at the time of his death, August 22, 2015.

Born July 7, 1958 in Havre de Grace, MD, she was a twin daughter born to the late Edwal M. and Mildred J. (Cox) Williams and remained a lifelong resident of the Whiteford area; graduating from Harford Christian High School in Darlington, MD, raising two sons who she loved dearly, and spent her career caring for others as a Resident Aide at Heart Heritage and then 15-years at Rock Spring Village.

She had a great appreciation for antiques, jewelry, Jazz & Big Band music, and Frank Sinatra. She was a Baltimore Ravens Fan. Merna found great pleasure in birdwatching from her own backyard feeder and had a love for horses. She treasured her time at the beach; Ocean City, MD was a favorite. Her angel collection is now a peaceful reminder of her eternal life ahead. She attended the Reformation Bible Church in Darlington.

She is survived by:
Two sons-
James Shiflett and Steven Shiflett, both of Whiteford, MD

Three siblings-
Jeffrey Q. Williams; Mary E. Dubon, her twin sister; and Ciddy Williams, wife of Moufie

Five nieces-
Erica, Sydney, Kristal, Jodawn, and Kortni

Five nephews-
Jason, Joshua, Donny, Avery, and soon to arrive, Emmett

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Howie Williams in 1985.

Services will be held at the Reformation Bible Church, 1736 Whiteford Rd. Darlington, MD; officiated by Reverend Dr. John McKnight. Please see www.harkinsfuneralhome.com for day and time. A luncheon will follow directly after the service at the church.

Inurnment will be private at Highview Memorial Gardens, Fallston, MD.

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate memorial contributions to Lieber Institute for Brain Development, 855 N. Wolfe St. #300, Baltimore, MD 21205.
