Life Story for Herbert C. Burns
HERBERT C. BURNS., 86 years of Abingdon, MD, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Mariner Health of Bel Air.
Born in Blair County, PA on July 26, 1929, Mr. Burns was a son of the late Frank R. and Rebecca E. (Burkett) Burns; he grew up with 6 brothers and 7 sisters. He was a builder by trade, retiring from construction work after many years with T C Simons, Inc. He lived most of his life in Maryland and was a member of the Franklin Baptist church in Darlington.

Katie Garner, wife of Donald; Barbara Thompson; Herbert Burns II, husband of Beth; Nancy Fritz, wife of Ed; Tina Bankard, wife of Bruce; Ronald Combs, husband of Susanne; Crist Burns, husband of Kelly; Cathy Lewis, wife of Tom; Clay Burns, husband of Anida; and Paul Burns, husband of Rebecca.
Five step-children-
Ronald Cole, Richard Cole, Walter Cole, Darlene Bobo, and Adriane Cole
And many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son James Combs, husband of Brenda; and step-daughter Sheila Berry.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, January 16 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St. Delta, PA 17314, where the funeral will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Services will be officiated by his son, Pastor Paul Burns and Pastor Charles McCoy.
Interment will be in Darlington Cemetery, Shuresville Rd, Darlington, MD.
In lieu of flowers, his family is requesting donations be sent to Wheel Road Valley Baptist Church, 305 West Lane, Churchville, MD 21028.
