Life Story for Ruth M. Gemmill

Ruth M.  Gemmill
RUTH MABEL (KROW) GEMMILL, 92, of Delta, PA, died on Monday, April 18, 2016, at SpiriTrust Lutheran Village in Shrewsbury, PA. She was the wife of the late S. Everett Gemmill with whom she had shared 71 years of marriage at the time of his passing on January 6, 2012.

Born on May 10, 1923 on the family farm in Woodbine, PA, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Ada (Miller) Krow and attended the former Fawn Township schools. Married at 17, Ruth and Everett immediately began working on the family farm that included milking cows on their wedding day. In addition, they owned and operated Gemmill Bus Service for over 35 years providing transportation for the South Eastern School District.

Ruth was a member of Fawn United Methodist Church where she participated in the Women’s Society and sang in the Senior Choir. Her three favorite things to do were keeping tabs on the happenings of the farm; regularly attending the Delta Senior Center; although, the most cherished was spending time with her family.

Ruth is survived by:
A son, David Gemmill and his wife, Martha

A daughter, Judy McShane and her husband, Tom

Six grandsons-
Gregory Gemmill and his wife, Mandy
Steven Gemmill and his wife, Emily
Eric Gemmill and his wife, Jessica
Darren McShane
Ryan McShane and his wife, Sara
Stephen McShane and his wife, Bobbi

Six great grandsons-Tyler, Mason and Everett Gemmill; Riley, Jack and Andrew McShane

Three great granddaughters-Charlotte and Mary Ella Gemmill and Harper McShane

She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul M. Krow.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday.

Her pastor, Reverend David W. Stough will officiate with interment in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta.

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Delta Senior Center, 5 Pendyrus Street, Delta, PA 17314 or Fawn United Methodist Church, 67 S. Market Street, Fawn Grove, PA 17321.
