Life Story for Louis "Lou" Howard White

Louis "Lou" Howard  White
LOUIS (Lou) HOWARD WHITE, (90) born December 30, 1925, passed away peacefully June 17, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Louise. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the fifth of seven children born to the late Robert William White and Bertha Ficks. Lou attended Girard College in Philadelphia, and in 1943, enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served as a signalman on the USS Moffett.

After the war, Lou attended Juniata College where he met Louise Ann Wengert. Lou earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law while working full time. Lou was always interested in the history of the American Indian. He worked for the Department of Interior - Bureau of Indian Affairs in Oklahoma and Utah and eventually retired as an Economic Development Officer in the Washington DC office. Lou enjoyed boating, antiquing, traveling, singing and reminiscing.

He is survived by three children, Karen Lynn White of Millville, Delaware, Stephen Bradley White (Floreta) of Austin, Texas and Barbara White Richardson (Jim) of Pylesville, Maryland; six grandchildren, Marissa Griffin (Daryl) of Buda, Texas; Jason Crutchley (Jess) of Baltimore, Maryland; Robert White of San Antonio, Texas; W. Ryan Richardson of Washington, DC; Samuel Richardson of Arlington, Virginia and Hannah Richardson of College Park, Maryland; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. All of his siblings predeceased him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Highland Presbyterian Church, 701 Highland Road, Street, Maryland on Wednesday June 22, 2016 at 12:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 11:00 – 12:00 at the church.

Interim Pastor Ray Muete, Jr. will officiate.

Military honors by American Legion, Mason-Dixon Post #194, Rising Sun, MD will follow the services.

Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery. Additional information will be provided when arrangements are finalized.
