Life Story for Marie T. Zimmerman

Marie T.  Zimmerman
MARIE T. ZIMMERMAN, age 91 years, of York, PA, formerly of Fawn Grove, died on Friday, June 24, 2016 in her home in the Country Meadows Retirement Community. She was the widow of F. Harold Zimmerman with whom she had shared 68 years of marriage prior to his death in 2012.

Born on April 21, 1925 in Gatchelville, PA she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Estella E. (Jamison) Torbert. A graduate of the former Fawn Township High School, she was employed as a Personnel Administrator at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds for 23 years.

Devoted to serving the Lord, Marie was the organist and choir director at Guinston Evangelical Presbyterian Church for 40 years and a member for about 70 years. She was actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Marie was a supportive and loving wife; she and her husband Harold were members of the Corvair Club of America. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and crocheting.

She is survived by:

Joyce Z. Hyson and her husband, Richard of Cross Roads, PA
Linda Z. Jordan of Red Lion, PA

Four grandchildren-
LtCol Todd Hyson, U.S.M.C. Retired and his wife, Marie of Red Lion, PA
Shean Hyson and his wife, Christina of Cross Roads, PA
Sonia Jordan-Matthews and her husband, Bryon of Shrewsbury, PA
Joseph Jordan and his wife, Alissa of Jacobus, PA

Six great grandchildren-
Samantha Roedts (Ian), Heather Hyson, Victoria Hyson, Jordan Helsel, Dylan Helsel, Stella Jordan, and Steele Jordan.

A brother, Dale A. Torbert and his wife, Barbara.

A sister, Lois A. Nielsen.

She was preceded in death by a brother, H. Lester Torbert

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. at the Guinston Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 14130 Guinston Forge Road, Airville, PA 17302 with interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Services will be co-officiated by Reverend Dr. Daniel R. Moore and Reverend Jack Maisch.

Friends may call at the church from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Guinston Evangelical Presbyterian Church Building Fund at the above address.
