Life Story for Melvin Robert Good

Melvin Robert Good of Street, MD passed away on June 29, 2016 after a brave battle with esophageal cancer. He was 70 years old.

Born on May 9, 1946 to Thomas and Sara Josephine (Strawbridge) Good, he was one of six children. Mr. Good resided in Street, MD his entire life and was referred to by many as a “true Harford County original.” He had a very impressive 60-year tenure working on Garden Fence Farm alongside four generations of the Crowl family, where he was instrumental in growing the business. Melvin took a lot of pride in his work and truly loved all aspects of being a dairy farmer, but especially enjoyed tending to the animals.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Mr. Good was an outdoorsman in every sense of the word. When he was not working on the farm, Melvin was in a tree stand or on Deer Creek and he loved passing his knowledge of the sports to others. He enjoyed watching old western movies, listening to country music and collecting Indian artifacts.

Melvin Good was well known and well liked throughout the community. He will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, quick wit, great stories and most importantly, his willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Mr. Good was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Thomas Good, James “Shorty” Good, and Edward Good. He is survived by his sister Bertha Hopkins and brother John Henry Good as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date this summer at Deer Creek Overlook. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Harford County Humane Society, 2208 Connolly Road, Fallston, MD 21047 or or the Senator Bob Hooper House, 2007 Klein Plaza Dr., Forest Hill, MD 21050 - where Mr. Good received exceptional care in his final days
