Life Story for Shirley Pearson Harkins

Shirley Pearson  Harkins
Shirley Pearson Harkins, 89 of Delta, PA died peacefully at the Hart Heritage Estate, Street, MD on Saturday, October 8, 2016. She was the wife of John Hubert Harkins who died on September 11, 2013.

She was born in Pawtucket, RI on March 27, 1927 a daughter of the late Harold and Janet (Scott) Pearson.

Mrs. Harkins loved her family, always doting on them. She also loved her friends, many of whom she knew for decades.

Shirley was an avid bridge player having been a member of the same bridge clubs for over 60 years. She was a community volunteer and longtime elder at Slateville Presbyterian. Mrs. Harkins loved to travel as her well-worn passport indicated, but always looked forward to returning home to Delta.
Mrs. Harkins' strong faith was evident to all who knew her. The family rejoices knowing that she is in heaven.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey S. Harkins and his wife, Sandra of Delta and Stephen Harkins and his wife, Cynthia of Greenville, SC.

Four grandchildren, Leigh Ann Harkins, Drew Harkins, Aaron Harkins and Sean Harkins

Two great grandchildren, Alexis Dixon and Ashlynn Johnson

One sister, Janet P. Hauck and husband, Robert of Sugar Land, TX

Nephew Peter Hauck and wife Mary of Larkspur, CO

Niece Julie Kastor and husband David of Cypress, TX

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Slateville Presbyterian Church, 308 Slateville Road, Delta, PA 17314

Her pastor, Reverend Kenneth Osborne will officiate.

Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the Social Hall of the church immediately following the committal.

In lieu of flowers, her family would prefer contributions to the Slateville Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund at the above address.
