Obituary for Catherine A. McCallister

Catherine A.  McCallister
CATHERINE A. McCALLISTER, 84 years of Airville, PA, died on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the home of her daughter in Fawn Grove, PA. Married for 39 years to John R. McCallister, he preceded her in death in March, 1988.

Born on December 27, 1931 in the Sunnyburn Area of York County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Lillie Lavinia (Pomraning) Atkins and a graduate of the former Lower Chanceford School. A lifetime member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, Catherine had served in the Presbyterian Women’s Group and was very active in church activities and events. In addition, Catherine was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the John S. Murphy Post #7130 in Delta, PA; a member of the Penn Mary Chapter #72 Order of Eastern Star in Cardiff, MD and the Order of the Amaranth. She had worked as a clerk for over 25 years at the former Collinsville Discount Center, enjoyed yardwork, gardening, caring for her pets and cherished her family.

She is survived by:

John R. McCallister and his wife, Robin of Red Lion, PA
Laurie K. Brown and her husband, David of Fawn Grove, PA

She was preceded in death by her brother, John J. Atkins; sister, Mariam C. Snyder; son-in-law, Ronald E. Heilman.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 4263 Delta Road, Airville, PA with a visitation from 11 to 12 p.m. followed immediately with the funeral service at noon. Her pastor, Reverend James B. Shuler will officiate with interment at Salem Cemetery, Delta, PA.

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate memorial contributions to the church at the above address.
