Obituary for Donald S. Jackson

Donald S.  Jackson
After a day celebrating Thanksgiving with his family, DONALD JACKSON suddenly passed into eternal life on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Carroll County Memorial, Westminster, Maryland. He was born in October 1926 to the late John C. Jackson and the late Bertha (Steele) Jackson in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He was educated in the Chester County School System and graduated from Oxford High School, Oxford, Pennsylvania. Mr. Jackson was a long-time employee of Finch Services, being their Parts Manager for many years, in Westminster. He was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westminster, Maryland, and, in later years, was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church in Street, Maryland. He served in many leadership positions in each church throughout the years. Donald was born and raised a farmer and was a skilled carpenter and woodworker, cherishing his grandfather’s tools all of his life.

He is survived by five children: Lesley (John Simpson), Mary, Susan (Joseph Getty), David (Lisa Myers Fugetti), and Scott (Kathy Patton). He is survived by thirteen grandchildren: Emily Simpson, Jennifer Simpson (Jon Carter), Susanna Simpson (Adam Kanner), Justus Getty (Sarah Foor-Hogue), Nathan Getty, Laura Getty, Emma Getty, Madison Getty, Samuel Getty, Rachel Jackson, Daniel Jackson (April Simmons), Hannah Jackson, and Selia Jackson. He is survived by five great-grandchildren: Josephine Getty, Gabriel Jackson, Lillian Getty, Isabelle Jackson, and Clark Carter. He was predeceased by former spouse, mother of his five children, Alden Jackson. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Jeanne Heaps Jackson. He is also survived by his siblings: Evelyn J Clark, Marie J Dolinger (Cecil), and William Jackson (Christine) and their children and grandchildren.

The Jackson Family wishes to thank the nursing staff and caregivers at Evergreen Golden Crest Assisted Living, Hampstead, Maryland, for their loving care during the past several years.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Highland Presbyterian Church, 701 Highland Rd, Street, MD. The funeral service will be Friday December 2 at 11:00 a.m. also at the church followed immediately by the interment in Highland Cemetery. Highland pastor, The Reverend Ray Meute, Jr. will officiate along with co-officiant, retired Highland pastor, The Reverend John V. Carlson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Highland Presbyterian Church at the above address.
