Life Story for Charles Wm. "Bill" Myers

Charles Wm. "Bill"  Myers
CHARLES WILLIAM “Bill” MYERS, 79 years of Delta, PA, died on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Rest Haven – York, PA. Born on August 9, 1937 in Darlington, MD, he was a son of the late Earl Thomas and Catherine Virginia (McCann) Myers and a graduate of Kennard Dale High School where he played center for the football team. Bill was proud to serve his country from January 1955 to July 1958 in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, he lived in Long Beach, CA where he worked for North American Aviation – Rockwell International in the space division.

In 1971, Bill moved back to the East Coast and worked in construction for Bechtel at Peach Bottom and various sites. He moved on to working as a security guard captain with Burns Security at the Peach Bottom Atomic Plant and then in the payroll department for Catalytic Rathelon, also at Peach Bottom. Subsequently, Bill accepted a position as a training staff coordinator at Peach Bottom as well as several other nuclear plants.

While working at Peach Bottom in the 1990’s, he opened and operated the former Myers Seafood in Delta, known for his famous crab cakes. He retired in 2014.

Bill was a member of Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church in Cardiff. MD and a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #182 in Whiteford, MD. His additional membership included the La Societe Des 40 Hommes ET Chevauk Locale #1297 (a division of the American Legion) for forty years.

He loved to watch “shoot em up” westerns as he would call them and especially enjoyed moves by the late John Wayne. He was a Disney admirer and was known to collect Disney movies and memorabilia. He enjoyed Calvin & Hobbs cartoons, outdoor activities, football and followed the New York Yankees.

Earl Thomas Myers, Jr. of Red Lion, PA
Judy Myers Williams of Delta, PA

Five nieces and nephews:
Earl Thomas Myers, III; Deborah Lynn Lentz; Melissa Dawn Kefauver; Tabitha Marie Criswell and Christina Louise MacClosky.

He was a great uncle to 11 and great-great uncle to four.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday. Reverend Kenneth Osborne of Slate Ridge/Slateville Presbyterian Churches will officiate.

Interment will military honors presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, PA.
