Life Story for George R. Towson

GEORGE R. TOWSON, 82 years of Fawn Grove, PA died on Thursday, January 5, 2017 in his home. He was the loving husband of Audrey (Harvey) Towson who passed on May 27, 2002.

Born on March 20, 1934 in the Gatchelville area of York County, he was a son of the late Howard and Carrie (Schultz) Towson, and a veteran of the U. S. Army serving from June 1953 – April 1956.

A talented mechanic, George had worked over 35 years for American Chain & Cable Company in York, retiring in the 1990’s. In addition, he was known to have built racing engines for the late Milford Wales of Fawn Grove and was asked by many other racers to build for them.

George enjoyed watching western movies-especially the late John Wayne films, fishing, vacationing at the beach and was fond of “tinkering” with all types of engines.

He is survived by:

Russell Scott Towson of New Park, PA

Four grandchildren –
Jordan T. Scott; Erin M. Scott Jalon; Joshua S. Towson and Ashley N. Towson

Three great grandchildren-
Kanan and Grayson Scott; Alanna Jalon

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Wilmer Towson and Pearl Weaver.

Services will be private and at the convenience of his family.
