Life Story for Richard Austin Pomraning

Richard Austin  Pomraning
RICHARD AUSTIN POMRANING, 76 years of Airville, PA, died in his home on Friday, March 17, 2017. Married on June 22, 1963, he had shared 53 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sherry (Murphy) Pomraning.

Born on March 10, 1941 in Havre de Grace, MD, he was a son of the late Thomas Leslie and Jessie Corrine (DeVoe) Pomraning and a graduate of North Harford High School. Richard had served with the Army National Guard from 1963 to 1969. Employed as a commercial chemical technician, he retired in 2003 with 16 years of service with Cytec Industries located in Havre de Grace. Richard enjoyed traveling with his wife, vacationing in the Caribbean as well as visiting nearly all 50 states.

Richard was a true outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening, crabbing and taught his grandchildren the art and respect of shooting fire arms. He was a member of the Glen Rock Shooting Club and followed the Baltimore Orioles. A past master, Richard was a member of the Stephenson Lodge #135 A.F. & A.M. of Darlington, MD and attended Fawn United Methodist Church in Fawn Grove, PA. A dedicated family man, he was known as “Poppy: to his grandchildren who he adored.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
Two children-
Cynthia Dawn Dandy and her husband, Robert of Stewartstown, PA
Richard Keith Pomraning and his wife, Lisa of White Hall, MD

A brother, Harry DeVoe Pomraning of Abingdon, MD

Five grandchildren-
Brittany Reynolds and her husband, Tim; Emily Dandy, Ethan Pomraning, Hunter Pomraning and Hannah Dandy.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Pomraning and sister, Dean Pomraning Ward.

Services will be held in Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA with visitations on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 on Friday with Reverend David W. Stough of Fawn United Methodist Church officiating. Funeral staff will be outside during all services to assist with parking as well as handicap needs.

Interment will follow the funeral service in Fawn Grove Cemetery.
