Obituary for Michael Robert Barlow

Michael Robert  Barlow
MICHAEL ROBERT BARLOW, 63 years of Pylesville, MD, passed away in his home on Friday, August 25, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Deborah Claire (Jones) Barlow.

Born on December 21, 1953 in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of William Robert and Margaret Lou “Peg” (Baker) Barlow of Pylesville and a 1971 graduate of North Harford High School. A lifetime resident of northern Harford County, he was married on July 28, 1973 to his high school sweetheart, Debbie; they had shared 44 years of marriage. Michael was a devoted deputy working for 30 years with the Harford County Sheriff Department where he had received numerous awards for his service, marksmanship and dedication. In 1978, Michael rose to the top of the department earning the #1 shooter on the force, in 1982 was awarded Deputy of the Year in Harford County, in 1983 was recognized by the Evening Sun and the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution for his outstanding contributions to law enforcement in addition to recognition by the Susquehanna Optimist Club. In 1984, Michael was honored by the VFW with a certificate of appreciation for achieving Deputy of the Year and a Sheriff’s Commendation. Retiring in 2005, Michael had risen to the position of Sergeant.

A gun collector, Michael respected fire arms and marksmanship, had enjoyed racing at the Cecil County Dragway and family vacations on the Outer Banks of NC. Most of all, family was important to Michael, and he treasured the times he spent with his grandchildren. Michael adored his Jack Russell “Reba” who was his constant companion for 17 years until her death.

Gary W. Barlow and his wife, Judy of Whiteford, MD
Philip S. Barlow and his wife, Stacie of Stewartstown, PA

Four grandchildren-Abigail and Luke Giannini; Madelyn and Jacob Barlow

Officiating will be church minister, Pastor Jonathan Batchelder and Michael’s uncle, Reverend Harold L. Hubble. Following the service, the family will greet everyone during the social/refreshment time.
