WILLIAM LEE DERICKSON, III, 80 years of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 in Stella Maris Hospice, Timonium, MD. Married on March 29, 1958 to his beloved wife, Elaine (Scott) Derickson, they had shared nearly 60 years of marriage. A lifetime resident of Harford County, Bill was born in Darlington, MD on June 21, 1937 to his late parents, William Lee Derickson, Jr. and Lillian Garrettson (Tayson) Derickson. A talented hard-working man, Bill was self-employed and instilled his work ethics in his children. A carpenter, he was known to “work hard and play hard” and was proud of his welding ability, building boats and tubes for the Baltimore Harbor and Tunnel Thruways. A gracious and loving husband, he adored his children and grandchildren.

Bill had a deep admiration for the Susquehanna River, choosing to live within sight distance from the water where he enjoyed boating and was an avid fisherman. A longtime member of Highland Presbyterian Church, he had served as a trustee and was involved with the youth fellowship for years. Reflecting on his dedication to young people, Bill led the youth group hiking the 50-mile Appalachian Trail. His family remarked that Bill was from the “old school” where his unspoken love shown brightly every day in their lives.

William Lee Derickson, V; Julia Elaine Mesch; Lillian Raye Derickson; Conner Lee Derickson; Alex Solis, Jr.; Nicholas Hayes; Peyton Hayes

He was excited to have known that his first great grandchild would be born soon.

A half-brother, Charles Tayson, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Carter J. Derickson.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 4th beginning at 11 a.m. in Highland Presbyterian Church, 701 Highland Road, Street, MD 21154. His pastor, Reverend Raymond R. Meute, Jr. will officiate. A luncheon will follow in the William Netting Social Hall immediately following the service where the family will greet guests.

Inurnment in the church columbarium will be private.
