Obituary for Harry O. Beighley

Obituary written by loving family.

Harry Odell Beighley, 71, of Abingdon, MD, formerly of Beaver Falls, PA, died on Monday, April 15th after a year long battle with Liver cancer. “Butch” was the son of the late Harry W. and Dolores Carver Beighley.

A Mason for 50 years, Harry worked for 22 years in the Cold Draw of B&W Tubular in Beaver Falls before he became a police officer and then served as Chief of the North Sewickley Township police department for 30 years. A member of Beaver Valley FOP Lodge #4 and the Beaver Valley Chiefs of Police Association, he was awarded the Guy Tyler Award by the Governor of PA for his service to reduce drunk driving in the state.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charla Rouser Beighley of Abingdon, MD; his son Matt (Amy) Beighley of Delta, PA; and his daughter Jill (Steven) Sinclair, also of Abingdon, MD. Also surviving are two brothers, Vern (Carol) Beighley of New Castle, PA and Gary Beighley and his partner Sharon Petri of Wheeling, WV as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

“Pap” loved his five grand children (Caroline, Paul and Henry Beighley and Emily and Natalie Sinclair) more than anything in the world. He attended as many athletic and academic events and performances as he possibly could, bragging endlessly about each of them to anyone that would listen.

Our family would like to thank all of our friends and extended family that encouraged him via Facebook, email, or phone call during his illness. We’d also like to thank the selfless and caring nurses and doctors at the Kaufman Cancer Center at Upper Chesapeake Hospital in Bel Air, MD for their wonderful care.

As per his request, there will be no viewing or service. Memorial Contributions can be made in Dad’s name to the Beaver Valley FOP Lodge #4, PO Box 111, Monaca, PA 15061.
