Obituary for James D. Wilson

JAMES D. WILSON, 85 of Delta, PA passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 in his home. He was the beloved husband for 61 years of the late Beverly C. (Eaton) Wilson.

Born on September 12, 1934 in Oxford, PA, he was a son of the late James Clemet and Lydia (Brown) Wilson and a graduate of Oxford Area High School. Jim was proud of his dedication to his country, serving 2 years in the US Army before making a career with the US Air Force for 20 years, retiring from Andrews Air Force Base. Following his service, he worked for Harford County Government as an inspector of the roadways.

Jim was dedicated to his community giving 66 years as a volunteer firefighter for Delta-Cardiff VFC and when Whiteford opened its firehouse, he dedicated additional years of service to the Maryland side of the community. He was known to volunteer for the Delta Carnival, the Mason-Dixon Fair and the fire police.

Proud of his family heritage with Abraham Lincoln, he portrayed the late president in parades, events and was asked to read the Gettysburg Address at the Gettysburg National Cemetery.

A family man at heart, he enjoyed holidays, gatherings and spending time with each one.

Six grandchildren-
Ryan S. Fox, Lydia C. Buchanan, Sheena M. Greek, Gavin B. Jones, Stephen C. Baldwin, Jr. and Victoria A. Baldwin

Six great grandchildren-
Cadan B. Jones, Haley C. Buchanan, Seth E. Buchanan, Jameson B. Jones, Jonathan W. Greek and Milena Shae Jones.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lydia Allene Boyd.

Viewings will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, the 30th at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Parish, 1021 St. Mary’s Road, Pylesville, MD with church pastor, Reverend A. Henry Kunkel, III as celebrant. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
