Obituary

Prepared by her family

Wife, Mother, Grandmother, School Nurse, Entrepreneur, and Farm Owner

Anne Ermer Bundy of Monkton, MD died on February 16, 2021 of natural causes at the age of 83 on Amelia Island, FL. Married on August 22, 1959, she was the beloved wife of Charles Phillip Bundy, Jr., who died in 1984.

Born in Baltimore, MD on November 13, 1937, she was the daughter of Charles Frederick Ermer and and Lola Ermer (Baer). In 1959, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland, where she was the 1958 Homecoming Queen.

For the past 50 years, she owned and managed the 120-acre Fairview Farm on the Gunpowder River in Monkton, MD. She loved and cared for animals, especially her bird dog Buckshot and her cats Beau and Yum Yum.

Beginning in 1971, she worked at St. Paul’s School in Brooklandville, MD, where she served as the head nurse for over 20 years and was beloved by the boys who affectionately referred to her as “Nurse Bandaid.”

In 1992 after retiring from nursing, she started and operated a dried floral business called “All Tied Up” that sold to retailers across the country. A photograph of her grand gold-leafed wreath was chosen and featured as the cover for the annual Bergdorf Goodman Holiday Book catalog. Her small business had a big footprint, taking up an entire barn on the family farm where she constructed her stunning creations by hand. She continued to make her arrangements until her death.

She enjoyed Amelia Island, FL, where she visited and owned resort properties for many years.

She lived a truly remarkable life with great grace and will be remembered for her infectious smile, laugh, and happiness. She had a unique way of genuinely listening and talking with people to help them with life challenges. She and her husband had an everlasting love affair, and she never dated or remarried after the love of her life died when she was only 45-years-old. She especially loved her children and grandchildren and was so proud of their every achievement.

She is survived by:
Her daughter Julie Bundy of Fernandina Beach, FL and her children Liz Bundy and Andy Maddix
Her daughter Carol Anne Bundy of Paris, France and her children Alex Forjaz and Edmond Guerrand-Hermès
Her son Phil Bundy of Bethesda, MD and his wife Donna Bundy and son Charlie Bundy

With arrangements thoughtfully provided by Harkins Funeral Home, a private burial service took place on Tuesday, March 2 at the Slate Ridge Cemetery in Delta, PA, where she was interred next to her husband. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a public memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at the Chapel at St. Paul’s School. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St. Paul’s School for Boys and the American Diabetes Association.

St. Paul’s School Prayer-
Teach us, Good Lord, To serve Thee as Thou deservest, To give and not to count the cost, To fight and not to heed the wounds, To toil and not to seek for rest, To labor and not to ask for any reward, Save that of knowing that we do Thy will; Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
St. Ignatius of Loyola
