Obituary for Arlene P. Williams
ARLENE P. WILLLIAMS, 80 of Delta, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community nursing home in Manheim, Pennsylvania after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Prior to living in Manheim, she was a long-time resident of Delta, Pennsylvania where she lived with her husband, Ed.
Born in 1941 to the late Joe and Frances Penn, Arlene grew up in Covington, Kentucky, minutes away from Cincinnati, Ohio. Two years after high school graduation, she accompanied her friend Ann on a trip Ocean City with a detour through Delta on the way home to Kentucky. It was during this trip that Arlene met Ed. After a long-distance courtship, they were married in October 1962 in Covington. The couple returned to Delta to live and raise two children, Keith and Denise. Later in life, they would enjoy being proud grandparents to their two grandsons, Justin and Ryan, and in 2020, great-grandparents to Coraline, daughter of Justin and his wife Emily. In October 2021, Ed and Arlene celebrated 59 years of marriage.
In addition to her love of family, Arlene was known to be an avid reader and made many trips to the Harford County Library. She also inherited her love of baking from her mother and her kitchen counter often held a homemade cobbler, pie, cake, cookies, or brownies. She also enjoyed all forms of arts and crafts and the home was decorated with embroidered pictures and pillows, and later on, paintings from art classes she took at the Delta Senior Center. She also had a lifetime love of dollhouses and miniatures and enjoyed creating miniature scenes and decorating dollhouses built by her husband, Ed.
In addition to her husband, Arlene is survived by her two children; Keith Williams and his wife, Sherri; Denise Lawson and her husband, Todd. She is also survived by her grandson Justin Williams and his wife, Emily and their daughter, Coraline; her grandson Ryan Williams and her sister, Marilyn Penn.
A Celebration of Life service honoring both Arlene and Ed will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Peach Bottom Inn, 6085 Delta Rd, Delta, PA 17314 from noon to 3 PM. An informal ceremony will be held from noon to 12:30 PM. Light refreshments and fellowship will be from 12:30 – 3:00 PM. RSVP (accepts only) by April 30th to Denise (Williams) Lawson.
