Obituary for Arnold C. Hitchcock

ARNOLD CORBIN HITCHCOCK, 89 of Street, MD was a man of God. He was surrounded in his son’s home by his church family on Wednesday, March 8th and on the last song sung at his bedside, “In the Garden” he closed his eyes and crossed over to Heaven.

Entering this world on March 8, 1934 and leaving on March 8th to return to be with his wife and Lord, he was born in Bailey’s Corner of the Darlington area of Harford County to the late Charles A. Hitchcock and Amelia J. (Zellman) Hitchcock. He was a graduate of the second class of the newly built North Harford High School in 1952 of Pylesville, MD. Arnold was the devoted husband of the late Priscilla M. (Ashley) Hitchcock for 51 years at the time of her death in January 2012 and had cared for her at home in her declining illness until the final week of her life. He continued his dedication to her until her final breath in hospice with a beautiful reunion in Heaven this past Wednesday evening.

Arnold served with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict Area from August 1954 till March 1958. He had worked as a dispatch operator then as a post taxi driver for 20 years for the Aberdeen Proving Ground, retiring in 1988. Arnold was a faithful and familiar face with the breakfast club at The Ballpark Diner and enjoyed the company of many friends there daily. He loved to watch western shows and movies as well as the WWE.

A member of Franklin Baptist Church since 1958, Arnold was very active in the church activities. He had served as a deacon, usher, sang in the choir and driver of the VBS bus; however, most memorable as the greeter and person who was responsible to open the church and have it ready for attendees. Arnold greeted many members and guests at each service there and made them feel at home.

He will be remembered for his strong faith in his Savior, his smile and his gentle spirit.

He is survived by his loving family:
Two sons- Michael L. Hitchcock (Sherry) of Delta, PA
Arnold C. Hitchcock, Jr. of Street, MD

A brother, William Hitchcock

Three grandchildren-
