Obituary for Betty Rae Rudd

BETTY RAE RUDD, 80 years of Darlington, MD, went home on the Lord’s Day, Sunday December 26, 2021 from Havre de Grace, MD. She was the beloved wife of James Clifford Rudd, Sr., with whom she had shared 57 years of marriage at the time of his death in 2016.

Born on June 12, 1941 in Sparta, NC, she was a daughter of the late Woodrow Dowell and Adeline (Billings) Dowell. Betty had worked for 19 years for Cecil County Government as a correctional officer/guard in the detention center. She was strong in her Christian beliefs and a faithful member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church where she had been active in church events and activities.

Betty was a talented artist. She loved to paint, listen to gospel music and sermons. She was a strong dedicated prayer warrior and loved her family.

Her kind and loving touch will be missed. It can be said of her life, “Well done My good and faithful servant.”

Jack W. Rudd, Sr., and his wife, Mary of Abingdon, MD
Pastor Mark A. Rudd and his wife, Teresa of Darlington, MD
Gina Perry and her husband, Dr. William Perry of Bethlehem, PA

A sister, Janice Blakely of North East, MD

Seven grandchildren-
Jack W. Rudd, Jr.; Joshua Rudd; Katelyn Cassell; Michaela Rudd; Julia Waldrop; Travis Rudd and Tallis Todd along with her eight great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Services will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, 3414 Cedar Church Road, Darlington, MD 21154 with a viewing from 4 -6 p.m. followed immediately with the funeral service at 6 p.m. Reverend John Harrington of the Gospel Baptist Tabernacle officiating.

A private burial will be held for her family in Welcome Home Cemetery next to her dear husband.

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate memorial contributions to her church at the above address.
