Obituary for Bobby C. Richardson

Bobby C. Richardson, 87, of New Oxford, PA, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at UPMC Hanover Hospital. Bobby was born to his late parents, Calvin J. and Reba (Burkins) Richardson at their family farm in Woodbine, PA. His beloved wife, RuthAnn E. Richardson died in 2010.

Following graduation, Bobby served his country as a member of the United States Army. He worked as a Machine Operator for the AMP Corporation. He was a larger than life figure who had an amazing sense of humor and will forever be remembered for many things that make America great. He was a devoted husband and father, loved the Lord and was an extremely hard worker. Whether at home on the farm or in the mountains of North Caroline, Bobby loved everything country.

John Deere tractors, steam engines, Andy Griffith, history, football, and baseball and playing card games were things that captivated Bobby. He enjoyed studying the civil war and teaching history on the battlefield at Gettysburg to his family during their many trips there. He was an avid attendee at Baltimore Oriole’s games when they were held in the old stadium and loved watching Penn State Football. He and Beth were playing rummy last week while he was a patient in the ICU at Hanover Hospital. And yes, Bobby beat her. He was a constant supporter of Beth, especially when she played sports in High School, often being the outfielder while RuthAnn was the pitcher during family softball practice.

Bobby is survived by his daughter, Beth (Leigh) Johns of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, his daughter-in-law, Karen Richardson, four grandchildren; Evan Johns and Alex Johns, of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Justin (Leanna) Richardson, of Fawn Grove, PA and Andrew Richardson. He is also survived by one great granddaughter, Savannah Richardson and a sister-in-law, Janice Richardson.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, Bobby was predeceased by one son, Brian K. Richardson and two brothers, Cecil Richardson and Eldon “Pete” Richardson.
