Obituary for Carrie B. McCurry
Carrie B. McCurry, 96, of Darlington, MD, died peacefully at Harford Memorial Hospital on Friday, January 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Ash County, NC, to her late parents, William P. and Maggie (Farmer) Elliott. She was married to her late husband, Ezekiel H. McCurry who died in 2014.
Carrie was an area resident for over 70 years. She was a woman of deep faith, honor and independence. She loved her family and cherished all the time she shared with them. She was an honorable wife and mother and cared for her home with tenderness. Her interests included her gardens; which were filled with vegetables and beautiful flowers, being an avid reader, finishing over 2000 novels prior to her death and her love of travel.
A steadfast in her life was her walk with her Lord. She faithfully attended worship at New Beginning Baptist Church in Peach Bottom, PA, where she was a member. She loved to worship and be in the Lord’s presence. Her family will never forget her determination, faithfulness and hard work that continued even until her death.
Carrie is survived by her children, Tommy (Ann) McCurry, of Havre de Grace, MD, and Wanda Felts, wife of the late David Felts, of Delta, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Carla Kuehne, of Red Lion, PA, Christopher Felts, of Fawn Grove, PA, Glenn McCurry, of Conowingo, MD, Sharon Thomas, of Delta, PA, Chad Gainey, of Jarrettsville, MD and Casey Gainey, of Saugertes, NY. In addition, she is survived by 11 great grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild. She is also survived by one sister Chessie Cornett, of Abingdon, VA.
In addition to her husband and late parents, Carrie was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Kohajda, one granddaughter, Jennifer Gainey and one great grandson, Bradley Kuehne.
Viewings will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 6 pm until 8 pm and again on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 10 am until 11 am at Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, 3414 Cedar Church Rd, Darlington, MD. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 beginning at 11 am at the church with Pastor Mark A. Rudd officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions are made to: New Beginning Baptist Church, 301 Black Barren Road, Peach Bottom, PA 17563.
