Obituary for Charles August Burman

Life story prepared by his family - Charles August Burman, 81 of Street MD, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, March 14, 2021. He was born at home on June 26, 1939 to the late William E. Burman and Sarah Elizabeth Carroll Burman.

Raised in Parkville, MD, he graduated from Parkville High School in 1958. To further his education, he attended night classes at Mervo to become a master electrician. At a young age, Charles demonstrated a strong work ethic. One of his first jobs was working for Explosive Engineers in Sparks, MD. He was later employed by C&P Telephone Co./Verizon for over 35 years. During that time, he also enjoyed crop farming and raising beef cattle. He was an active member of North Harford Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and was a member of the financial committee. Other memberships included: Harford County Farm Bureau, Blacksmith Guild of MD, Harford County 4-H Program (35 + years) and Hopewell Fish and Game where he served as a director for many years. Other areas of interest included hunting, blacksmithing, spending time with his brothers and he was an avid supporter of the late Senator Bob Hooper. Charles spent countless hours teaching his children and grandchildren woodworking, blacksmithing, welding and basic electrical skills.

Anyone who knew Charles knew how kind and dependable he was. He never hesitated to help his family, friends or neighbors. He was honored in 2019 as one of Harford’s Most Beautiful People.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna, whom he shared 57 years of marriage; daughters Michele Mink (Gary), Karen Dawson, and Shannon Lewis (Marc) 9 grandchildren: Joshua, Jonathon, Stephen, Zachary, Chelsea, Taylor, Alex, Kyle and Cole; 2 great grandchildren: Olivia and Brantley. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia McCartin, brothers: Robert Burman and James Burman and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Burman.

A graveside service will be held at Highview Memorial Gardens, 3433 Fallston Rd., Fallston, MD on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with his pastor, Reverend John Manry officiating. Please gather at the graveside for services.
