Edward Lee Slusher, 85 of Darlington, MD, died on Saturday March 12, 2022 in Towson, MD. Edward was born on July 27, 1936 to his late parents, Montague Slusher and Rosa (Shaw) Slusher in Maybeury, WV. He was the beloved husband of Katherine (Cullum) Slusher with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
Edward was a veteran of the Army, serving from 1955 until 1958. Edward was deployed to Germany shortly after he and Katherine wed in October of 1956. Their love was so deep and profound for one another, that Katherine followed Edward to Germany while he was deployed. Much to her surprise, Edward met Katherine on the dock when her ship arrived in Germany. A loving and protecting man, he escorted her to their home while he finished out his orders. Upon returning stateside; Edward and Katherine began their family in Harford County, at which time he designed and built the family home in Darlington. After the Army, he made his career as a meat cutter and a school bus driver.
He will be forever remembered as a kind, gentle, giving and patient man who always took the time to teach those around him. He tried to always see the good in every person that he met. He always made time for fun on the water with his boat, camping, riding his motorcycle and being with his dogs. While all of these things were important to Edward, his greatest accomplishment and sense of pride was his family.
Edward is survived by Katherine and their children: Edward Lee Slusher, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Howard Franklin and wife Dawn Slusher of Baldwin, MD and their three grandchildren: Krystal Nunez of Bel Air, MD, Stephen Slusher of Dublin, MD and Shawn Peters of Cockeysville, MD. Edward is also survived by his adoring great grandchildren: Antonio Nunez, Mackenzie, Connor and Skylar Slusher, Aisling and Ailie Peters.
