Obituary for Ellen Jane Bates
ELLEN JANE BATES, 71 of Delta, PA, passed away in York Hospital on Saturday, October 10, 2020 in York, PA. She was the beloved wife for 46 years of the late Hershel Edward Bates, and cherished mother of the late Gregory Lee Lewis.
Born on August 10, 1949 in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Noah and Ruby Jane (Dykes) Shifflett and had worked for GM for over 30 years on the assembly line. Ellen was known to be a hard worker, but always made the time to spend with her late husband doing the activities they enjoyed together. Family was very important; she cherished moments spent with her three granddaughters, four great grandchildren and certainly her two dogs. Ellen cherished the loving memories of the times shared with her late son. She loved to be around family and friends laughing, shopping and family gatherings. QVC and the home shopping network could always count on her as a faithful watcher/shopper. She will truly be missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the service will close with prayers.
