Obituary for Elmo Freddie Gorrera

Elmo Freddie Gorrera, 83, of Street, MD, passed away on April 5, 2023 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Elmo was born in Chestnut Hill, MD, to his parents, Anthony and Elsie (Seymour) Gorrera. He was married to his beloved wife, Audrey Kilgore Gorrera, until her death on April 6, 2016.

Elmo served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged following his service. Elmo was a talented outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Lancaster County Sportsman’s Association. He was an honest, hardworking and proud man. He always enjoyed being with his family, especially when he was able to spend time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He liked having a party when gathered with his friends and family. In addition to loving the outdoors, he was skilled at playing the spoons and dancing. He was most comfortable when dressed in his cowboy boots, hat and listening to country music.

Elmo is survived by his children; Elmo Freddie Gorrera, II, Cheryl (Richard) Ohmstede, Donna Porter, Joseph (Diane) Gorrera, his step-children; Sandra (Lee) Ball, Samuel (Donna) Kilgore and Shirley (John) Collins. 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren will always cherish his memory. In addition, Elmo is survived by his siblings; Mark (Michele) Gorrera, Lee (Paula) Gorrera, Toni Sue (Jeff) Christopher and Mary Gorrera. He is also survived by his caregiver and companion Linda Theimer and his first wife and lifelong friend, Shirley Beal. He will be missed by many, many nieces, nephews, loved ones and beloved friends.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Elmo was predeceased by his step-father, William Harding and two siblings, Tony (Bud) Gorrera and Maxine Rash.

A viewing for family and friends will be held at Harkins Funeral Home, Inc., 600 Main Street, Delta, PA on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 1 until 3:30 pm. The funeral service will begin at 3:30 at the funeral home. Pastor Doug McClean of Calvary Chapel of Delta will officiate at the service. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date, please check the funeral home website for updated information on time, date and location.
