Obituary for Emma Lou Swearingen

Emma Lou Swearingen, age 100 years, peacefully went to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 19, 2021
She was born on October 2, 1921, in Bel Air, MD, a daughter of the late Edgar Lee and Lilly Jane (Joines) Fortner.

Emma Lou's faith was an essential part of her life, and she was a long-time charter member of Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church since 1962. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community.

She is survived by her three granddaughters, Donna Phipps, Sandy Ashley (Buddy Ashley), and Carolyn Scarlato

Five great-grandchildren, Michael Chatham, Melissa Chatham, Darrell Ashley, Julia White and her husband, Kevin, and Nicholas Scarlato

Five great-great-grandchildren, Brookelyn Lester, Camden White, Kinsley Ashley, Hailee Chatham, and Harper White.

Emma Lou was preceded in death by her brother, Emory Fortner (Aileen Fortner), and her two children, Donald Richard Swearingen and Constance "Connie" Lee Swearingen.

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 22, beginning at 10 am at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta, PA.

The funeral service will immediately follow at 11 am.

Officiating will be her pastor, Reverend Ronald L. Turner

Interment will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
