Gary Ray Richards, Sr., affectionately known as “Pop,” died at 8:58 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at York Hospital in York, PA. He was the husband of Peggy (Sizemore) Richards and they observed their 39th. wedding anniversary on July 11, 2020.
Gary was born in Baltimore, MD on March 30, 1962, a son of the late Ralph E. and Jessie (Morrison) Richards, Sr. He was a truck driver and worked for several area construction companies and businesses throughout his career.
His church membership was with the New Beginnings House of God in Spring Grove, PA. Gary’s faith was strong and he was always active in church programs and served as a Sunday School teacher in addition to singing in the churches he attended. He traveled and played either the mandolin or the bass with the King’s Four and The Richards Family, a Christian vocal group which included Gary’s wife, Peggy and their four children. For recreation, he enjoyed playing video games.

Gary was also blessed with an abundance of loving friends to whom he was a father figure.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 12 beginning at 11 a.m. at the New Beginnings House of God, 4740 Sportsman Club Rd, Spring Grove, PA 17362 with Pastor Brad Sizemore and Gary’s son, Reverend Gary R. Richards, II officiating.
