Obituary for Helen Regina Gerhart
LIFE STORY PREPARED BY THE FAMILY: Helen Regina Gerhart (nee Fitch) passed away peacefully on September 12, 2022, she was 88. Helen was born on the family farm in Fullerton, MD in 1934 to Elmer and Laura Fitch. She married Homer Gerhart around 1950 and the newlyweds moved to Bel Air, Harford County to set up their home on Broadview Avenue.
Their son, Daniel Gerhart, (now deceased) was born in 1953. Homer and Helen became the proprietors of a swimming pool business, Galaxie Sales, Inc. in Bel Air. Helen was a longtime member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kingsville, Md. and active in the Soroptimist Club and the Kissing Cousins social group. Helen loved her job at Hale’s Seafood and worked there until she turned 80 years, when she reluctantly retired. Helen later moved to Forest Hill, and most recently, as a widow, lived in Darlington, MD with her companion, Gary Moore, and her loving pets, Maribel and Loretta. She spent her recent time keeping a large flower garden.
Helen was a generous, hardworking person who rarely held a grudge. Helen, lived life on her own terms and rarely held back telling others exactly what was on her mind. She loved much and was loved much. She is now safely in the arms of Jesus.
Helen loved and is survived by grandchildren; Christopher Gerhart, Denver Gerhart, Devin Gerhart, and Dustin Gerhart along with their wives; Jenny Gerhart and Kristen Gerhart. Also, her great grandchildren: Seth Gerhart, Cody Gerhart, Austin Gerhart, Jacob Tull and Delaney Gerhart, and daughter in law, Laura Sipe. She is also survived by a brother, Elmer (Sonny) Fitch along with his family.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 East Padonia Road, Timonium, MD. The funeral service will be officiated by John Sipe.
