Obituary for Janet Holbrook
JANET H. (WILEY) HOLBROOK, 52 years of Street, MD, died on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in her home. She was the wife and business partner of C. Larry Holbrook, and they had shared 21 years of marriage.
Born on March 27, 1969 in York, PA, she was the fifth child born to Barbara Louise (Jones) Wiley of Shrewsbury, PA and the late Kenneth Robert Wiley. Growing up on the family farm, she was known to be active in all aspects of daily farm demands. Janet attended York County Vo-Tech for two years studying cabinet making and then graduated from Kennard Dale High School in 1987. Janet completed her education with an Associate Degree from Harrisburg Community College in 1990 and was very proud to be the first in her family to graduate with a college degree. After working in positions for Whiteford Cabinet, Stone & Webster and Dr. Wise, she went to work for Holbrook Heating & Air. Together she and her husband serviced over 500 homes yearly in many local communities.
Janet was known to be fun-loving. A pool shark, she loved to travel and attending the semi-annual car cruise shows in Ocean City, MD were favorites. Janet was a longtime member of Slateville Presbyterian Church of Delta where she worshiped with her family. She was very fond of dogs and had recently lost “Kudo.”
A volunteer firefighter first for the Delta-Cardiff VFC, she was a lifelong member, an active firefighter as well as riding the ambulance. Janet was active in working at the Delta Carnival and fundraising for the company.
In 1997, Whiteford VFC was formed, and she joined along with her husband. Together they were first responders for the fire company, and she rode the ambulance as well. She was active in the fire house activities and had served as the administrative secretary for many years.
Janet will be remembered for her devotion to community, contagious smile, kind spirit and as a loving sister, beloved daughter and devoted wife.

Her stepsons-Mitchell L. (Danielle) Holbrook and Justin L. Holbrook of Street, MD.

Her maternal grandparents-S. Austin and M. Blanche Jones
Her paternal grandparents- J. Paul and Erna S. Wiley
Janet’s services will be held at the Jarrettsville VFC, 3825 Federal Hill Rd., Jarrettsville, MD on Tuesday, March 1st with a viewing from 1-6 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday in the fire hall at 11 a.m. There will not be any public inurnment services.
Her family is requesting to make donations to the Whiteford VFC, PO Box 222, Pylesville, MD 21132 and/or Delta-Cardiff VFC, PO Box 15, Delta, PA 17314 instead of sending flowers.
