In 1973 until 1993 when she retired, Jean worked for the Forest Hill Bank (now known as PNC) when the Whiteford Branch was opened first as a teller then as an administrative aide to the branch manager.

Jean spent decades as an instrumental advocate of Lyme Disease and helped hundreds of sick people recover from the often debilitating tick-borne illness, of which she personally battled with for over thirty years. She founded the Harford County Lyme Disease Support Group shortly after her diagnosis to spread awareness about the emerging epidemic and assist afflicted members of the community. As President of the Group, Jean volunteered countless hours tirelessly helping others to combat the Disease. She received numerous local and state awards over the years for her extraordinary advocacy and service to the Lyme Disease community.
