Joan L. Penhollow, 74, of Darlington, MD, died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born in Darlington to her late parents, John L. and Mae (Haynes) Triplett. She was married to the late Thomas Edward Rineholt and the late Allen Penhollow.
Joan was a wonderful mother and a devoted spouse. She cared deeply for her home and was a stellar cook, baker, crafter and gardener. She cherished all the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and with her brother, Kevin. She was a strong, independent and selfless woman. She fought and overcame cancer twice and never shied away from a hard or difficult situation.
Her faith was an important and large part of who Joan was. She was a member and attended worship at Gateway Baptist Church in Rising Sun, MD. She was also a member of the ladies group at the church and enjoyed attending church social events. She loved the Lord and worshiped Him faithfully.
Joan is survived by her children, Monica (Jorge) Guzman, of Orlando, FL, Brian (Lisa) Rineholt, of Cookeville, TN, Warren Rineholt, of Livingston, TN and Cortney (Nicholas) Bandy, of Whiteford, MD. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren: Carrie Burk and Lauren Rineholt, of TN, Christopher Guzman, of LA, Nicole Guzman, of FL, and Nicholas, Jr. and Nathaniel Bandy, of MD. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Chloe Burk, Carlee Burk, Everett Rineholt and Caysen Campos, all of TN. She will be lovingly missed by her siblings: Juanita Rineholt, of Conowingo, MD, Virginia (Jenny) Triplett Ward, of Darlington, MD and her brother, Kevin Triplett, of Darlington, MD.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 10 am until 11 am at Harkins Funeral Home, Inc., 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. A graveside service will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Pylesville Cemetery, 1021 St. Mary’s Road, Pylesville, MD. A Memorial Service will be held beginning at 12:30 pm at Gateway Baptist Church, 58 Foxy Court, Rising Sun, MD with her Pastor, David Landers officiating.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, Joan was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Darney.
