Obituary for Joaquin "Chef Jack" Lopez

JOAQUIN LUIS LOPEZ, 63 of Delta, PA, died on Saturday, March 27, 2021 in his home. Known as Chef Jack, he was born on February 18, 1958 in Baltimore, MD; he was one of five sons born to the late Dr. Jesus Miciano Lopez and Edith Joan (Isennock) Lopez. Following an enlistment with the U.S. Navy as a Submarine Repairman, Jack attended the Culinary Institute of America and began his journey in the culinary arts. Jack practiced his craft 21 years for the Peach Bottom Inn in the small town of Delta where he blossomed and became widely and affectionately known as “Chef Jack”. His brisket sandwiches, PBI Boards, and crab cakes were just a few of the highlights that he created for the local patrons as well as the many that traveled for miles to enjoy his dishes. His personality was “bigger than life” so to speak and everyone in this little town in lower York County was his friend. Known to have a huge heart, his kind spirit, sense of humor and smile were contagious.
